Even after nine years, it is not possible to complete the liquidation of the Czech Republic’s Agrobanka. On June 28, the relevant court refused to register the sale of a part of the bankrupted bank into the Commercial Register, making the situation non-transparent, and threatening that the liquidation will turn into bankruptcy. The court verdict may have serious consequences, including full nullification of the transfer of the assets and liabilities of Agrobanka to GE Capital Bank (now GE Money Bank). If bankruptcy is declared, the asset administrator would include the transferred assets into the bankruptcy assets base and GE Money would have to pay about 20 billion krona (US$900 million).
